This journey started because of the disparities in health care for black and ethnic minority women, which has become evident within the NHS.  Whilst the NHS largely offers a safe passage of care to the majority of women and children, there are groups of women that require specialist care of a more intimate level, who fall through the net.

Current affairs have shown that black and ethnic minority women have more adverse incidents than other women.  We at EMS are here to work in collaboration with the NHS to ensure black and ethnic minority women receive the additional support that they need to ensure their safety in pregnancy, in labour and postnatally.
