About Elite Midwifery Service

EMS is a group of experienced professionals consisting of Midwives, Health Visitors, Social Workers and Maternity Support Workers - our very own Pregnancy Companions.
We also have direct access to Obstetric Doctors and Specialist Nurses.

We offer a Free Service, which is Funded, for Black and Ethnic Minority Women.
We work alongside the NHS to provide additional, ethical support for women of colour.

Our aim is to provide an informed Midwifery and Health Visiting Services to ensure a safe passage for Black and Ethnic Minority Women from Pregnancy through to new Parent-Hood and beyond.

We especially provide this service for Black and Ethnic Minority Women due to the disparities they face in health care services.
Our Story
This journey started because of the disparities in health care for black and ethnic minority women, which has become evident within the NHS. Whilst the NHS largely offers a safe passage of care to the majority of women and children, there are groups of women that require specialist care of a more intimate level, who fall through the net.

Current affairs have shown that black and ethnic minority women have more adverse incidents than other women. We at EMS are here to work in collaboration with the NHS to ensure black and ethnic minority women receive the additional support that they need to ensure their safety in pregnancy, in labour and postnatally.
